Why we do Grow Classes
Disciples of Jesus are called to grow to know God deeply. As we progress in the Christian life, we should be pressing on to know God more and more. Peter makes this clear in 2 Peter 3:18, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” This is not mere intellectualism, but knowledge that is transformative, by the Spirit.
One way that we encourage this type of growing to know God is through “Grow Classes.” Grow classes are environments where, in a classroom, setting, a teacher is instructing on some book of the Bible or some topic related to following Jesus while those in the class are meaningfully engaging through questions and related discussion. These classes meet on a semester schedule, for roughly 12 weeks in the fall and in the spring. They meet at 9:15 am on Sunday mornings, prior to the main worship gathering. Also, at that hour, there are Grow Classes offered for children up through high school age.
